In the end the CBR650F is a well-executed machine that plays the safe bet. Its not a standout in any one performance category; it just delivers everything a bike in this class should. A low center of gravity, slim feel and high-set clip-on handlebars give excellent control and confidence. At 689cc, the FZs engine benefits from a slight displacement advantage over the competition, but its not the amount of power that makes the motor satisfying. The new CBR650F is a nice bike and the one to choose if youre after that four-cylinder scream, but $8,500 is a lot to charge for it. If you love the color offered then youre in luck but the odds of everyone loving that one color when choosing will be slim. Most importantly, its the only bike that had me smiling the whole time I rode it. It operates with information from four separate throttle body sensors on 32mm throttle bores for crisp and accurate throttle response; Keihin KN7SJ injectors have replaced the Denso units used on the CB600F.

 

Honda CBR650F dash - clean, simple, usable Thumb the starter and you're met with a fairly gentle sounding engine tone. Advanced LED taillight for brilliant illumination. The motor is great too: plenty of pep (second-gear wheelies!) but docile enough for new riders. Power from the 649cc twin is ample without being exciting, and the rubber-mounted footpegs and handlebar can make the machine feel a little disconnected. Unfortunately, there wasn't time to test that or ride two up.

 

Not our favorite, but fortunately there is always lots of torque on tap. For the rest of you thinking about about a super-sport, especially if you are recently licensed, this will be the better machine. The FZ-07 is lighter, cheaper, and more fun than any other bike here.
